Our mission is to provide solutions to effectively manage water, the world’s most vital resource.  We are seeking a Program Engineer to work with the Community Engineering Corps program.  This is NOT a 100% remote role. This position is hybrid (3 days in office, two days remote). Up to 25% travel may be necessary.

 

Working with Community Engineer Corps’ founding partners, this role will help identify the needs and coordinate the solutions to civil infrastructure challenges faced by underserved communities across the US. You will assist with program development, management of daily operations, and provide support to Community Engineering Corps project teams.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • CECorps Project Support

    • Act as the primary AWWA point of contact for project-related inquiries from Community Engineering Corps community applicants, volunteers, and general public.

    • Process, track, and maintain project records and files within Volunteer Village (Salesforce) as required by program guidelines and funder requirements. Information includes, but is not limited to data collection, submittal processing, volunteer waivers, interviews, and evaluations.

    • Develop and maintain project reporting through Volunteer Village and other methods (Microsoft, Google, etc.), ensuring that project reporting meets program guidelines and funder requirements.

    • Utilize Volunteer Village to document all discussions and decisions in project records and to support tracking of project status and timely delivery.

    • Manage technical and legal reviews submitted by project teams for quality control, including all project work plans and deliverables.

    • Provide input and support strategic development of the program, including attending strategic development meetings, conducting studies of available program data, and developing reports summarizing findings.

  • CECorps Communication and Outreach

    • Recruit Community Engineering Corps volunteers and conduct outreach to potential community partners by attending and presenting at conferences and events across the nation.

    • Assist in the development and distribution of marketing and outreach content as directed by the Community Engineering Corps team.

    • Create content based on Community Engineering Corps program for publications, conferences, website updates, social media posts, and other outlets as directed by the Community Engineering Corps team.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:

    • Attend and/or lead team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed.

    • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to further the Community Engineering Corps program and personal career goals.

    • Know, understand, and follow employee guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures.

Job Qualifications (required or preferred)

Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.

 

Education or Formal Training

Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Water-related scientific discipline or related field desirable.  Equivalent combination of education and experience also considered.

 

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating numerous concurrent complex projects with multiple stakeholders required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge working with underserved communities in a technical field, local governance, or at a policy or regulatory level preferred.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of related water sector, civil engineering, or environmental engineering experience preferred.

  • Experience working with volunteers and/or large committees preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, virtual meeting tools, and Outlook required; proficiency with database systems (i.e. Salesforce), project management tools, and marketing tools strongly preferred.

Language Skills

Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position. Spanish language skills preferred.

Vision adequate to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position required.

 

Physical Demands

Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:

  • Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 15 pounds unassisted; able to sit for extended periods of time with some standing, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching; moderate range of body motions.

  • Ability to hear and interact by phone and in person clearly and efficiently.

  • Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time.
